Not all luxury cars and SUV’s are built alike, and after spending some quality time in a 2012 Infiniti FX50 AWD S, you know you are driving something special.

Exterior

The revised front grille and fascia design for 2012 is the topper for an already very impressive looking vehicle. Our test model looked sleek and elegant in moonlight white paint and sports car-like 21 inch 6 spoke alloy aluminum wheels. The FX50 S was already loaded before you add in the sport package. Some of the notable exterior features included  a new grille design, double wave hood, strong front-to-rear shoulder line, integrated rear spoiler, power sliding moonroof, standard automatic on/off High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-functional xenon headlights and integrated front fog lights, aerodynamically designed rear LED taillights, Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) with auto-leveling headlights, distinctive functional side air vents which reduce front end lift by five percent, lightweight aluminum-alloy hood and doors, standard power rear lift gate, chrome window moldings and door handles, available aluminum roof rails, power folding, heated outside mirrors with courtesy lights and available reverse tilt-down feature, and dual outlet exhaust with chrome tailpipe finishers. The overall look of the 2012 Infiniti FX50 AWD S is basically a blend of high performance design and luxury that can put a smile on many discerning persons.

Interior

The wheat interior will impress without even trying and that says a lot these days. For those who truly enjoy the finer things in life, get into a 2012 Infiniti FX50 AWD S and see it for yourself. Our test model was equipped with quilted leather appointed sports-style seats, climate controlled 10-way power driver’s seat including 2-way lumbar support, leather wrapped steering wheel with shift knob, Infiniti signature analog clock, gorgeous maple interior accents, aluminum pedals, rear seats heating and cooling vents in center console and ducts under front seats, solid magnesium paddle shifters, hard drive navigation system, Infiniti voice recognition, XM satellite radio, XM Nav Traffic and weather, incredible around-view monitor with front and rear sonar system, Infiniti intelligent key with illuminated push button ignition, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, streaming audio with Bluetooth wireless technology, Bose 11 speaker Premium sound system with AM/FM/CD with MP3 playback capability, speed sensitive volume control, USB connection port for iPod interface and other devices.  The cockpit in the 2012 Infiniti FX50 AWD S is as comfortable as they come and inviting for your friends and family.

Performance

There are plenty of good looking luxury SUV’s on the road, but how many can satisfy your driving ambitions? No fear here as the 2012 Infiniti FX50 AWD S pleases in many different ways when on the road. Let’s start with the hulking 5.0 Liter V8 engine that produces a whopping 390 horsepower, which is the basis for all the fun in the star car. The intelligent AWD with snow mode came in handy in some snowy conditions and the 7 speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift control and manual shift mode with downshift rev matching were also notables that stood out when testing the FX50 S. Braking was an ease with the large sport brakes with 4 piston front and 2 piston rear calipers. Front and rear stabilizer bars and vehicle speed sensitive power steering were also included. Listen, I was blown away by the force of the V8 engine. And don’t even think about going into Support mode and not thrusting so fast or your head will live on the headrest! There is basically no compromising if you have to move into an SUV from a sports sedan, so drive a 2012 Infiniti FX50 AWD S so you can experience the thrill for yourself. I also appreciated the features that make me a better driver on the road, including lane departure warning and prevention, distance control assistance and intelligent brake assist with forward collision warning. Fuel economy was respectable at 14mpg city and 20mpg highway using the required premium fuel.

Overview

It’s pretty clear that we were impressed with the 2012 Infiniti FX50 AWD S, and for good reason. For those in search of excellence in their vehicles, this one should be on your list. Excellence, top performance and luxury do come with a cost as our test model came in at a sticker price of $66,545. The overall design is aggressive but sophisticated and I’m guessing that will describe many of the lucky owners of this fine vehicle!
