Suzuki made quite the statement by naming their new 2102 Grand Vitara compact SUV the Ultimate Adventure Edition. The SUV might be compact or midsized, but those terms surely don't fully credit the GV for her capabilities and bold look.

Exterior

The rugged and muscular 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara Ultimate Adventure Edition 4WD has a well balanced exterior and shows confidence with 18 inch smoked alloy wheels, fog lamps, side view mirror turns signals and mounted full-size spare tire with a cover. It's amazing how many folks asked what the vehicle was and had never really heard of the Grand Vitara. The reactions were very positive and it bodes well for future sales.

Interior

With so many bells and whistles in cars and trucks these days, it can be a relief to enter a cabin like the 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara Ultimate Adventure Edition 4WD where you feel comfortable and not overwhelmed. I like technology as much as the next person, but I want to drive an SUV, not an airplane, my friends. Suzuki got it right with a clean and well-thought-out interior design that included the must-have technologies of today. Our test model was equipped with voice activated navigation, touch screen display, traffic info and weather, auto climate AC with micro filter, CD/AM/FM audio & MP3 AUX jack ,  power windows, locks and mirrors, steering wheel audio controls, cruise control and keyless entry with panic alarm, all-weather floor mats and Bluetooth with screen graphics. The Ultimate Adventure Edition sported water resistant two-tone seats, heated front seats and leather wrapped steering wheel.  There is plenty of room for five adults and the Grand Vitara has a large two-tiered storage area for all of your outdoor gear!

Performance

Expectations were high when we drove the 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara Ultimate Adventure Edition 4WD, and for an SUV that has a very reasonable price tag, it didn't disappoint. Our test model came with a 2.4 liter DOHC 4 cylinder engine that produces 166 horsepower and a zero maintenance timing chain. Also included were automatic transmission, full time 4-wheel drive, 4-wheel independent suspension, unibody construction, 4 wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control, traction control system, anti lock brakes with EBD and brake assist. When we pressed the gas pedal on the quick silver metallic GV, you could easily convince yourself that this was a much more expensive model and that is always a plus.

Overview

The 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara Ultimate Adventure Edition 4WD gives consumers ample bang for their buck with a price tag as tested of $24,569. The combination of full time 4 wheel drive and 4-wheel independent suspension qualify the GV as an off-road capable SUV and that means tons to those who are seeking adventure. For those who may use the 4-wheel drive system for snowy roads, you have the security of a traction control system as a bonus. Overall fuel economy came in at 19 mpg city and 23 mpg which is decent for this segment. The 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara Ultimate Adventure Edition 4WD  is a fun vehicle to drive while also being a serious competitor in the compact SUV category.
