Cars Home / Stuff to Buy Channel / Bullz-Eye Home

Scion’s history is obviously short and remarkably sweet. The brand was founded under its parent company, Toyota, in 2003 as a way to bring young buyers to the Toyota brand. The cars were different than most on the road, particularly the xB, a boxy little 5-door meant for the city. The cars are just a shade different than the typical market car today. Scion marketing plays up the difference, attempting to create a ‘unique’ experience for the Scion customer. As you might guess, Scion marketing goes after youth by directing consumers to websites to get the Scion experience, a bright, loud extravaganza that’s all about being young.

Resources

Scion
The Scion site showcases the customizability of the brand with completely modded-out versions of their three models scrolling across the front page. Links at the top of the page offer a look at Scion culture and owners in an attempt to connect Scion enthusiasts. In its current form, the page is a little lackluster, but at least the idea is there. If they could get someone behind an official forum/enthusiast site, it just might be a good thing.

Scion at Wikipedia
The Scion page at Wikipedia is as short as the brand history, and understandably so. Scion is a straightforward enough brand that there’s not much to discuss. The site does make an interesting comparison between Scion and the Chevy brand, Geo, which is probably fair to a certain degree. Scion probably hits a higher price point than Geo, and we can hope, a higher level of reliability.

Scion at Autoblog
If you thought you wouldn’t see Autoblog here, you’re nuts. They are, simply put, the very best at reporting auto news, and their Scion page is a testament. Most of the posts deal with custom Scions, which is no big surprise. The brand doesn’t do a whole lot more than let their advertising keep working and showcase the unique cars with even more unique versions. When anything does happen, though, you can bet Autoblog will have it.

Community Sites

Club Scion tC
The club section of the site leaves a bit to be desired. The forums are where the action’s at, and there’s plenty to go around. The tC has definitely become a choice car for modders and tuners all over the place, and this page is a testament to that feat. While there are plenty of tech tips and tricks, we like their ‘coffee house’ thread. This is one of few forums that offers space for folks to connect on more than just cars and the users actually USE it. Revolutionary.

Scion Life
This is one of the cooler forums we’ve been to. The threads are organized either by model or region, so you can stay tied in to your model of choice or just the members in your area. In some ways it seems fairly limiting, but even obscure regions have relatively active forums full of helpful posts.

Club xB
The xB really seemed to be the car that sparked the Scion flame, and that’s what this page is all about. The forums are ridiculously active for such a young company. It’s probably enough to make plenty of other manufacturers we cover quite jealous. The thread to share your ride has some notably cool xBs for your perusal.
