New Reviews by Nilo
  • Partagas Serie S "not so" Exquisito (06/09/2003)
Half the fun for Nilo is sitting around his local cigar shop and enjoying his weekly selections with other cigar aficionados. This week, though, his two choices were disappointing.

  • This is one cigar you cannot refuse (05/27/2003)
Swayed by the presence of its intimidating spokesman, Big Pussy from "The Sopranos," Nilo decided he'd better give the Don Diego Players Club cigar a try this week.

  • And they're off (05/12/2003)
Stockpiling his smokes for the Kentucky Derby, Nilo reviews four cigars this week, including the Indian Tabac Cameroon Legend and the Punch Rare Corojo Rothschild.

  • Survey says: "La Aroma de Cuba!" (04/22/2003)
Unable to smoke this week's cigar, La Aroma de Cuba, at a local restaurant, Nilo reluctantly had to wait until the end of the day to enjoy this surprisingly tasty selection.

  • An introduction (04/09/2003)
The Bull's very own cigar aficionado, Nilo Zanadel, introduces himself and his bi-weekly column to his new readers while remembering his very first cigar, a La Primadora Churchill, which "tasted like an ashtray."

Nilo Zanadel has been a cigar lover for decades. One of his earliest cigar memories are of seeing Fidel Castro smoking cigars after the Cuban Revolution. "At the time, I said to myself, 'this guy is just following a fad.'" Now that cigars are losing their popularity, "I expect Fidel to quit smoking any day." It's evident that Nilo has great disdain for "pretend cigar lovers." "Half of the celebrities from the Cigar Aficionado covers never smoked to begin with and the other half have since quit," says Nilo. How much does Nilo like cigars? Up to six Punch Robusto Double Maduro's meet their fate in his ashtray every day. "I love this cigar -- the flavor, the consistency and the price can't be beat. It's the standard by which I measure all other cigars." When he's not sleeping, Nilo is practicing law and smoking cigars in a booming metropolis just west of the Eastern Seaboard.
