Big Frank's Deep Pink is one of Vino
Joe's Favorite Wines!
Ready to swallow your pride and try a pink wine? Not aware you had to blush to enjoy one? Then run out and find a nice rose such as Big Frank's Deep Pink, from the Languedoc region of France.
The nose of this wine is pleasant with soft red fruit aromas, strawberry most prominent. Once in the mouth, the dry strawberry flavors came first, followed by a good level of acidity and a pleasant, quick finish of bitter mango seed that is similar to a well-made negroni cocktail (Campari with tonic and gin, to those of you not in the trendy bar scene). It's easy drinking and refreshing, and makes for a nice everyday wine. I chilled it a bit and matched it successfully with a cheddar bratwurst and sauerkraut dish. I think it will match just as well with a large variety of foods, anything from hot dogs to eggs to asparagus to turnips to pork!
What is so special to me about this wine is the name, because of the sophomoric conversation that develops when people read the label. (And just think, if your name is Frank, you could say to a girl, "how'd you like to put Big Frank's Deep Pink in your mouth" -- and not get slapped.) In the same vein, I've had fun giving
Fat Bastard Syrah as a gift to friends sensitive about their weight. (Yes, I'm evil.)
